He level changes for a double leg takedown but Griffin defends. Griffin reverses and puts Imadaev on his knees. He connects with a big knee to the body! Imadaev is back on his feet. Analysis
Rd 1 – They meet in the middle, both moving quite light on their feet, goof overhand right lands for Montano moving his head off centre line as he does. Griffin looking for a way into the pocket, 1 2 lands. Quick hands see Montano fall to the mat, Griffin moves in landing countless punches and the ref jumps in! That was easy!

AUGUST 2016 – VS COLBY COVINGTON

RESULT WON VIA 3RD RD TKO

Analysis
Griffin UFC Debut. Rd 1 – Covington high kick blocked. Griffin lands a straight right as Covington comes in. Couple kicks to the body land for Covington. Covington lands a right cross as Griffin comes in. Covington gets the single leg and takedown into side control. 1 min in. Covington unable to get anything going as Griffin defends with a kimura, almost has it and uses it to roll out. 2 mins in. Covington shoots back in for a single and again Griffin with a double wrist lock defending with a kimura. He loses it and Covington gets mount. 2 mins to go. Half guard. Covington landing a few short strikes. 90 seconds to go. Side control. Griffin doing well to defend and stop Covington from getting dominant positions. Covington continuously ending back up in Griffins full guard. 30 seconds to go. Covington controls for the remainder. 10 – 9 Covington.
Rd 2 – Covington head kick blocked. Griffin lands a good straight right. Griffin trying to throw hard but its not neat and leaves him exposed. As Griffin defends the takedown with a sprawl, they come up and Covington connects with a flush left hook and Griffin backs up. Level change and Covington easily gets the takedown into side control. Covington continues to control as Griffin tries to scramble up. Covington pulls him down into mount, and an elbow opens up a big cut on the head of Griffin. Halfway. Full control continues, Griffin can only cover up. Griffin able to get back to his feet a few times but Covington dragging him back down. 1 min to go. Griffin has taken a lot of damage as the blood pours out. 15 seconds to go and Covington lets him back up. Griffin pushes forward but looking beaten up and lethargic. 10 – 9 Covington.
Rd 3 – Covington slowly pressures. High kick is blocked. Covington rushes in and is clipped but a short right from Griffin. Covington goes again and this time gets the takedown. Griffin controlling. He takes the back, he controls landing punches. 2 mins in. Griffin struggling to move, as the short-left punches continue. Ref has seen enough.
